Hi Bob  hope this helps.
Pre 1931 life was much simpler

Yes after 31 the model number was added here's a couple I've got.

500 lion the I am pretty certain  I've seen a variant with 600  as well.

500 Model 9 the 9A has 600 instead of 500

I am pretty certain the Model 8 has 8 in the centre but can't remember if it has 350

The series 2 engines were different again making out the fact they were series 2. Here's a 600 Lion

veterans  had a large timing cover so were different?

The new team in the Parts Department is getting going.  One of the projects we are looking at are the round brass badges that go on the Timing Chaincase Cover on all Marston-designed Sunbeams.  Up to 1931 one badge, with a blank roundel in the middle, went on all models.  From 1931 onwards the roundel carries the model name, and there are a range of variants.  In addition, sometimes the badge was attached with rivets and sometimes with slotted screws.  Before we place any orders, some research is needed, and that requires information from members.

Please could you go and take a close-up photo of the badge on your machine, and then email it to global@marston-sunbeam.org?  Either as the file name or in the accompanying email, can you also please give your name and the year and model of the machine.  An example of what we are looking for is attached.
