I may try the original method of a felt and tallow seal as this will hopefully squash itself around the splines.

Hello Ian;

If you look at the outgoing shaft of the gearbox you wil see that the splines extend into the aerea where some sort of seal would be.

This situation can only leak, dispite all effert I undertook. Am an Model 9 / 1932 owner.

If however there is a clubmember with a splendid solution....

Dear all

As I understand the original seal on the gearbox gear change lever was a felt/tallow affair.
Is there a more modern seal being used to alleviate this problem
