Title: Kidheat Trust - serious ?
Post by: cocico on June 23, 2025, 08:36:06 PM
Hi there,
I sent out a request to Kidheadtrust.org.uk regarding finding out history of my Sunbeam with reg. AFS 171. The answer was that they had copied a lot of records of vehicle registrations and say that "we do hold some 'last user' index cards for numbers in that series".
For a research they ask 20 GBP but do not refund the money if their research doesn't show up any valuable data.
I have bad experience with such business behaviour, where people offer a research, take the money and have nothing but a computer and nothing behind that...I do not want to presume anything with this company, so my question is if anyone has some experience with this company, and if they are really serious.

The Kithead Trust (https://kitheadtrust.org.uk/) is a very reputable organisation who did a lot of work to save registration data when all UK registration data was transcribed to computer in the 1980s. £20 is a very reasonable figure given the amount of work they would have to do to check what information they have for Edinburgh where your machine was first registered.

The charges they make helps to keep the Trust operating and providing their search service.
