I am currently rebuilding a 600 Lion, B30. The cush drive, spring retainer and nut are all incorrect (I believe). well one maybe but the others parts are not. A few questions and pictures as below:
-- What is the thread size for the spring retaining nut, I believe they are 5/8 20 TPI, BSCY?
The current nut only has about 2 threads left, it was forced on on a previous owner/rebuild probably? I had to force it off on the strip down.
Although the cush drive mating half's are not a match, and the splines are about to give, i may be able to get it up and running again with ...a new nut....but not ideal.
-- Does anybody know if I could get this completed manufactured by anyone, the spindle is damaged on the splines due to incorrect parts etc. so looking at the spindle and complete cush drive/spring etc?
I appreciate this is a high cost, but presently its a scrap motor?
-- I have searched high and low for a replacement, but without buying 20+ cush drives with unknown makes/models etc, and hoping one will fit it seems lost, especially with the spindle splines so damaged.

My spring retaining nut looks different. So, I can't tell about your thread. Maybe the pictures help but you should be able to measure at your own spindle. Watching my design I presume that you can use any nut if the thread on the axle is ok.
The spindle and cush drive definitely need a repair (or must be completely replaced). For a repair, I recommend consulting a laser welder (are they hardened?). I have had good experience with this when repairing my rocker shaft (see picture). They did it for coffee money... :D

Hi Thomas, thanks for reply and adding the pictures. I think I have a total mismatch of all parts. Which has damaged the splines....they are all different sizes and don't mate correctly.
Laser welding is an option for the spindle, I can pull a few favour there, maybe more than coffee money though!!
I will need to get a full Cush drive setup made it looks like.
Your picture 0065 tells me that the outer section of the cush drive is not in a hopeless condition. This is good because it is difficult to manufacture with its inner splines. The inner drive section with the sprocket can be made by a lathe operator and cutter and then welded onto a standard sprocket.
Uuups, I am wrong! Your cush drive is not for a Sunbeam... :-\
