Title: Fuel consumption
Post by: Thomas on March 09, 2019, 09:00:02 PM
Hi all, I'm a bit puzzled about the fuel consumption of my 1937 Model 9. The maintenance manual says 75 miles per gallon but by experience it takes about 50% more. Is that normal?
Cheers, Thomas

Hi Thomas
By 50% more do you mean that it is doing about 37mpg? If so that does sound very low my model 9 1930 gets around 60 mpg on a run.

Sorry for the confusion, Graham, here in Germany we don't use imperial units...

I need about 6 litres per 100 km. That are only 47 miles per gallon. That is still 20% less distance than with your bike and 40% less than what the manual says.

around 50mpg doesn't sound too bad, Thomas, not when you take into account the pure pleasure it gives when riding.
Slow down a bit and see what happens  ;)
