Hello i am hoping you can answer my question, when i striped my 350cc sunbeam engine of my mod 8 series 2 1937 there was no head gasket i have no idea if there should be one or not or perhaps it should just be lapped in i have no idea many thanks for your help in this matter,

Certainly on the earlier bikes like my 9A there is only 1 gasket and that is the paper cylinder base gasket, and yeas grind the faces in.

I checked the parts list, and there is no head gasket listed. That applies to all Marston-designed Sunbeams.
