Hi the first of the production saddle tanks were introduced in 1929. These were still of soldered construction they have a slightly narrower shape than the first of the welded tanks. The tale tale sign is to check for the lack of weld join on the underside of the tank. In true Sunbeam tradition I expect that they used up what they first made.

My model 9 was reg in Jan 1930 and has an almost bulbous shape fuel tank and my friends bike is the same bike but has a slimmer shape tank on it and we would like to know what year did they actually change the shape of the tank?
If you can help we would love to know.
Many thanks.
