Title: Clutch bridge oiler
Post by: Peter 100 on January 16, 2023, 06:28:01 PM
Help needed!
On the clutch bridge there's a screwed in oil feeder cup. Fellow Beamers have kindly pointed out mine is missing its lid so I am trying to replace it.
I have measured the thread and it has 28 tpi and an outside diameter (major diameter) of 0.182".
Looking at the thread charts I cannot find a match.
1ba is 28tpi and diameter 0.208"
2ba is 31tpi and diameter 0.184"
7/32 bsf is 28tpi and diameter 0.218"
Any ideas what size it is.
Looking on line there only seems to be 2ba ones available at about £10 Inc Post.
Cheers
Peter

If you can't get exactly the right thing, you could re-drill and tap to 3/16 x 32tpi BSF, and fit the appropriate oiler. These are readily available, even on e-bay.

Alternatively, you could try your local bicycle shop, especially if it is an old-fashioned one. They may be able to help - even if they just sell you an oiler from which you could take the lid which you could then fit to your existing oiler.

Thanks Paul
Great info will look into what you say.
I did find a place that sold oilers with a cap 2ba size but they were £11 seemed a bit pricey.
