Title: Model 9 1927 - Jet Size
Post by: tommo903 on January 02, 2023, 10:39:12 AM
Hi all,

If using an Amac 15PJY carb on a model 9 (1927), just wondering if anyone can advise what jet size I should be using please...or at least starting off with? I have a carb with a size 30 fitted, does that seem about right?

Thanks,
Steve

seems a bit light you'd probably want to up that to a 40

Thanks Russ, appreciate that. I'll give that a try for starters.

I'd recommend getting yourself a copy of "the Vintage motorcyclists workshop" by the excellent Frank Farrington AKA Radco.....if I remember correctly there's an Binks, AMAL and AMAC jet size equivalent chart in there I think a 40 AMAC is an AMAL 160......plus there are a myriad of useful snippets and techniques for faffing with Vintage motorcycles

Russ, thanks for the tip!

Coincidentally, I bought that book fairly recently but haven't really got round to looking at it properly. That's a good reason for taking it off the shelf!

Cheers
