1935 Model 8. Is timing 9/16" or 7/16"?

trouble is that advice is now 80+ years old and for entirely different fuels and oil.

If worried, split the difference and go for 1/2" .... 1/16 either way will not wreck your engine, but you will notice sweeter running and easier starting on one.

Which one I'll leave to you. ;)

Another tip I learnt years ago is that every thou difference on the points gap will alter your timing by one degree.

The 1933 and 1935 and 1936 handbooks all give 9/16" or 43 degrees BTDC.

7/16  will be fine and not break your ankle like 9/16 would.

Most old road going singles will be quite happy at 1/2 or less, on full advance

Just wondered if my timing is correct as 2 reference books are saying 2 different things. 

1935 Model 8. Is timing 9/16" or 7/16" before TDC on full advance setting?
