Post by: phutton on May 30, 2013, 01:23:11 PM
Can anyone tell me when Marstons introduced the model number onto the brass disc fixed to the timing cover?

Paul,

I have a number of covers for the Model 9/9A for the 1932/4 period..... some have the model number and capacity and others do not.... see pictures. so must have been around this period.

well, I have 3 bikes from 1932, the model 90, model 9 and lion, they all have the model on the brass disc, my 31 model 9 does not, non of my earlier bikes have it either so i'd guess its 32

I'd also have an educated guess at 1932 season as well.

My 1931 Model 10 doesn't have the model number. But then who knows whether the cover started life with the bike?
