Hi Anji,

You 1921 looks remarkably complete and original, so you have a good basis to start from.

The answers to a lot of your questions can be found in the spares lists, manual and catalogues that the Club can supply, but to get you started:

1. Everything is black (including the wheels) except for the bright bits you can see in the catalogue illustrations. These are nickel plated - dull not bright nickel.
2. The carb can be either Amac or B&B and the mag EIC or ML. The only source for these would be the second-hand market via want-ads or e-bay. Unfortunately, I can't give you model numbers for these, but you could write to Geoff Brazendale. He is not on e-mail, but you can find his postal address is in the front of Beaming when it arrives, or in the Members Directory which I have sent you. He would be delighted to help.
3. The lubrication system is very simple, with no engine-driven pump, just a hand pump made by Best and Lloyd. These do appear on e-bay from time to time. Check out Czech company Vintage Replica on Google - I know he does a lot of B&L stuff.
4. Have a good look at our Documents List - all the booklets you might need can be ordered through our on-line shop.

I hope that helps!

Hi Paul
Thanks a ton.
Cant seem to connect with any of the Standard owners on the list that you so kindly sent me.Have copied them to you too. Did you recieve your copy ? Need some expert advice. The bike has been stripped down & there appear to be many missing parts. My daughter has already sourced some literature for me from UK, namely :

Repalcement parts catalogue    1914 to 1921 ( not much info )
Instruction manual SV models upto 1927

Other than the above, what other literature would you reccommend, either from the club library or elsewhere

Take care & ride safe

Welcome Anji. That looks fairly complete so hopefully shouldn't present too many problems.

The Club can provide parts lists, manuals etc or try Bruce Main-Smith's old company at the National Motorcycle Museum (http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.co.uk/specialist-services/bruce-main-smith-technical-literature/)

Thanks Ian. Will get cracking soon. Its 40 degrees here so heat strokes are a distinct possibility when working outside.

Thanks a ton Paul. Atleast I have direction now after you have pointed my nose in the right direction.
Iam so glad that I joined the club. I dont think the restoration would have been possible otherwise. Absolutely no info & spares here in India.
Thanks Once again & will be picking your brains on & off. Anji
