Hi,

I've inherited a 1928 Model 9 from my father. its an older restoration and needs recommissioning. I've taken the tank off to seal it with POR15 (it has started to leak after being laid up for over a decade).

I am now worried about how I am going to get the oil system to work again. As I understand it the 1928 oil system relies on the pump sucking oil from the tank, through the sight glass and down into the pump bulge in the timing cover. There was evidence of plenty of instant gasket in the oil pipe joints when I was dismantling it, so getting it airtight seems to be a must!

I've seen somewhere that I would need to prime the system to get it to work again. How do I do that? e.g Do I unscrew the sight glass cover an squirt oil in there?  There seem to be a non-return valve on the pipe that comes up from the oil tank to the sight glass; how do I prefill that?

All advice greatly received. Thanks, Huw.
