Have you noticed the two special 5/16 inches  bolts with reduced hex size and slots to mount the selctor tanks bracket?

Cheers Wessex Man,

Figured the stud thing out while walking the dog!

The 'bolts' are studs. You can take these out of the tank if you put two nuts on the stud and then put you spanner on the lower one and unscrew it.

To ensure the nut doesn't fall off due to vibration.  You can drill a small hole through the stud and wire put through it twist it. This stops the nut and washer falling off if it works loose.

If the repair is a soldered or brazed patch it should be good.

The gear change lever has a shouldered bolt spring washer and nut to rear.

HI again Folks,

The tank is off and, on turning over, I have discovered this rather poor attempt at repair...

Anyone know a decent tank repair guy?
Anyone know how the hell they got the tank securing bolts inside the tank?
Is the hex that holds the gear change lever a nut or a bolt?

Thanks in advance  ;D
