Title: Ring gaps and oil tank
Post by: Thomas on November 29, 2020, 11:23:24 AM
Hi all! What is the recommended piston ring gap for 500cc Model 9?

What is the trick of getting the oil tank out?

Cheers, Thomas

Hello
Piston gap depends on the quality of the piston. Forged pistons (expensive) need little, standard a little more. This is usually stated on the packaging for the respective flask. My friend once had an Italian make in a 350 SV Sunbeam. Horrible pistons. Greetings Claudius

I did some research in the internet and found a Dutch company at https://www.thn.nl/en. On page 18 of their piston ring catalogue they give gap intervals for different bores. For my 80mm bore the compression rings require 0.3mm to 0.45mm and the oil ring needs 0.25mm to 0.45mm.

Hello
Actually this is possible with 9A1932. To dismantle without fender. The prerequisite is that this mudguard is still original. Due to the deepening, it sits a little deeper. But the machine in demand is very different. Greetings from Klaudius.
