Hi all! I want to buy two new tires for my Model 9. What is a good choice? Any suggestion? Cheers, Thomas
I've put Ensigns on all my pre 1955 machines, including the 'Beam, simply because they look right ::) I've got no complaints as far as handling goes with any of them. Others may prefer a more modern, sporty tyre, but I've got no intention of scraping the footrests of any of the 'old folk' ;)
The do have an ebay shop and often do good deals when buying more than one tyre.

I fitted mitas universal tyres for the same reason as Greybeard, but i can scrape the footrests unless they are rotated up for clearance ;D..John

I only found out 'cos I was chasing my mate on his 60's Velocette Venom and caught him at a roundabout and had to lift iut of the turn because the footrests grounded.
As an aside before i started riding the Beam I had thought that a rigid girder forked bike would be a hand full riding at any reasonable speed, DOH idiot.
I have no worries with my 9A on bends and the only time i have moved the rear wheel out was in the wet and using the rear brake a bit harder than I should :o :-[, but at around 50-55mph it is a beautiful bend swinger..John
