Title: Bike weight
Post by: Peter 100 on June 26, 2022, 08:26:39 PM
Hello to all.
This is just a question out of curiosity.
Does anyone know the weight of a standard model 9, 1934 500cc? . I have searched and cannot find anything I am guessing about 350 to 400 lbs.
Also is there a lot of difference from the 350cc?
Cheers
Pete

JML never published weights for their machines but, when AMC took over, they did. The 1938 M9 500 was quoted, fully equipped, as 380lbs, and the M8 as 315lbs. I would expect your 1934 M9 to be very little different in weight from the 1938 version. Having said that, the Light Solo Sports was quoted as 350lbs, but this was a much lighter frame and running gear than your M9.

Paul (hope I'm right with that)
Thanks for that very interesting. Quite a lump but not as heavy as some others I bet.
Everything was made of robust stuff back in the day and made to last.
Cheers
