Title: Oil tank filter
Post by: Peter 100 on November 22, 2021, 10:24:24 AM
Hello to all
My 1934 model 9 needs a replacement oil tank filter.
The existing one is to say the least knackered beyond repair!
The previous owner seems to have bonded it to the tank and connector so when I tried to remove it, it chewed it up.
I am thinking of fabricating one out of brass mesh sheet and was wondering if anybody knows what the holes per inch and the length that the original mesh one would have been.
Cheers
Peter

Hi Peter,

attached are pictures of the oil filters in the tank and the sump of my 1937 Model 9. Both seem to be identical. I made the sump filter by myself by taking the old mesh as a draft for a 1mm width mesh. Details can be found here: http://www.marston-sunbeam.org/technicalNotes/model9EngineRebuild.html

Cheers, Thomas
