Post by: VicYouel on July 06, 2015, 08:33:36 AM
I know that Les plans to make a prop stand available...... indeed Sunbeam did an original part in the early thirties but has anybody tried one of  these http://www.vintele.co.uk/

I have seen these around, but not used one..I believe ???that Rudge had a version that was linked to the clutch cable so that it retracted just before you selected gear..John

Has anyone tried one of these stands yet? It would certainly make moving the bike around the workshop a little easier. I'm tempted to place an order for one over the weekend.

There was an article on one of these, or something similar, in the last but one 'beaming. The writer made the point that it's rather important to ensure it is fully retracted before riding off. He suggested using brackets that were weaker in the fore and aft direction, that would deform if it hit the road.

A good point to consider, Peter. Thanks. Once I get sorted and settled I'll look at getting some of the back issues of Beaming. As temporary measure, I'm busy this morning knocking up a couple of wooden chocks that'll safely support the bike under the footrests.
