Hi Russ,

I tried XXL 30, 40 and 50 and finally decided for 40. From my limited experience this is a good compromise. This summer I drove through the Alps at 10°C to 35°C and everything was fine with it. You can and should use it for the primary case because there is always a small contribution along the crankshaft, anyway.

Cheers, Thomas

I use 40W in all my bikes, as you say a good compromise.

It was toss up between XL30 or XXL40 from Castrol Classic Oils....my bikes got a tank full of XL30 now shouldn't think it'll be an issue...what do you think John

No problem, Russ, as long as you don't run it at very high summer temperatures. Leave it in until the next change. It is dificult to judge, anyway, because those machines were used at daily life and never had been taken care for as we do it today.
