Title: 1930 Model 9 Brakes
Post by: mthearle on July 31, 2023, 02:42:19 AM
Hi all,

My Model 9 needs new brake linings. Would anyone have the dimensions for what they should be?

Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick,

I have my wheels off and can measure the linings. However, I don't know if my 1937 size matches with your year.

Cheers, Thomas

Thanks Thomas,

That'd be great, anything would be good as a starting point at this stage.

Cheers

Hi Mick,

my inner front drum diameter is 203mm. I suppose it is the same at the rear drum. The lining length is 215mm, its width is 30mm and my present thickness is 7mm.

Cheers, Thomas

Hi Mick.
I'm not sure what your shoes look like, they are not the same as my 1932 ones.
If i were you I would measure the drum and measure the diameter of the shoes under the linings, i had trouble once with a company as on the 1932 sunbeam used 1/4" linings..i went to Villers services and got them to fit 8mm thick linings so that i could grind them to fit the hub.
