Title: A few Sunbeam newbie questions
Post by: Badgerman on February 27, 2023, 11:41:02 AM
Hi guys - just wondered if you could point me in the right direction for the following services:

1. best insurance for club members?
2. recommended place for magneto refurbs?
3. recommended place for Terry's saddle refurbishment?

Appreciate the help again.

Thanks
Jamie

Insurance - Peter James, or Footman James, also the new VMCC scheme looks good if you area member.
Magneto - If Lucas then Tony Cooper in Halesowen, West Midlands. phone 01215 592405. If anything else, try Armoto in Chesterfield, they are very good but pricey: http://www.vehicle-electrical-rewinds.co.uk/faqs-field-coils.html
Saddle - R.K.Leighton in Birmingham: https://www.rk-leighton.co.uk/

Best of luck. Have a look at our list of recommended suppliers on the website - very useful!

P.

I used Armoto for the mag on my flat tank AJS 500 - took about 5 months and nearly 500 quid :o At the beginning of February I sent a mag for a Matchless 500 to Old Iron Engineers (I got their details from the Ariel OC magazine). I rang Matt on 07412 389270 and he said if I could get the mag to him asap he would include it in his current batch. I was amazed when it was returned 10 days later looking and performing like new. As Matt said, I as lucky with my timing (ahem  ;) ) and not all overhauls would be as quick. The cost? £275. Matt will let you know what needs doing before starting work and keeps you informed of progress. Work is guaranteed for 3 years, coils for 10.
I understand there is a farcebook page if you're a user at facebook.com/oldironengineers and an email address of oldironengineers@gmail.com
I have no connection with the company other than being a very satisfied customer.
