John, I feel as I have too much to do and so little time to do anything. Many thanks for the reply, I have taken your advice and filled it with 1/2 pint approx, or until it just touched the chain. The only problem now is the weather, its either raining, snowing and ice along with the dreaded "SALT". But when the weather permit she will be fired up and taken for a little ride.

Thanks again Andy

I'm looking at someone who is local to me, Manchester, taking her on a trailer to there or my house and someone helping with with basic first call maintenance, tea coffee and an abundant supply of home made cakes and biscuits...any offers???

I see that you havn't had a reply from anyone who knows!
Don't be dismayed by this, answers sometimes take a long time to arrive as not many of the members seem to be active on this forum.
My '32 M9A doesn't have a level plug, and I'm fairly certain that most 'Beams prior to the footchange box versions do not have them either.
I would remove the inspection plate and add just enough oil to cover the chain(that's what I did anyway).I'm guessing 1/2 to 1 pint will be plenty..John

Hi all, I'm currently a newbie cutting my teeth on the forum and a New well to me model 1-2 Sunbeam 1928. I have aquired the bike through a sad event but hopefully taking the bike out for more than several runs next year.

I have a question? gee he's only been here for two minutes I hear you saying!!!!

I have stripped down my clutch (6 spring type), cleaned all the old oil off and replaced the gasket material around the primary chain case. How much oil is required to fill it up in the primary chain casing?

Hope to see you all at up and coming events. A Happy Christmas and a Safe Riding New Year to you all...
