Title: 1928 Model 9 Cylinder Head and standard rear drive gearbox sprocket wanted
Post by: matchlessg80cs on January 09, 2016, 04:03:32 PM
Hello - am after a 1928 Model 9 single port cylinder head with a complete set of fins (unlike mine which has had a hard life !), also a standard gearbox final drive sprocket in any condition - I can have new teeth welded on. Unf I re-geared mine a tooth up and its taken the end edge off its performance (they know what they were doing when they built these things !).
Many thanks
Al in Bristol

What do you consider to be 'standard'?  John

The sunbeam book I have lists 4 gearbox sprockets for the Model 9..15 tooth to 18 tooth..A 'standard' sprocket is not listed.
On my '32 9A I run a 24 tooth engine sprocket and an 18 tooth gearbox sprocket which seems right to me. If the gearbox sprocket was smaller I wouldn't need 1st gear. John
