The 2014 Rally takes place on almost the 100th anniversary of the day the First World War broke out, and we are planning a special display on Saturday 5th July to illustrate how motorcycles and motorcyclists became involved in the war. We would like to hear from any member who could offer to bring a machine to form part of this display. We are keen to include the distinctive Sunbeam military models, and we also want to display examples of other heavily used marques, such as Douglas, Triumph and Clyno. Finally, we'd love to hear from anyone who could display a civilian 3½ HP - we would like to use this to illustrate Marston's offer to supply this machine to soldiers and despatch riders in September 1914. If you can help, please contact Nick Shelley, who is co-ordinating this aspect of the Rally, as soon as possible, at nickshelley@hotmail.com or 07808 131216.
