please can anybodie tell me what  type of magneto a sunbeam model 9 series 2 as fitted???..

My 1932 9A has an MS1 and appears to be the only type shown in the hanbooks that I have.
The other option is an MO1 as fitted to most singles that I have seen. The difference between the MS1 and MO1 is that the MS1 has points the same as a K1F/K2F and the MO1 has a face cam and lifts the points outwards. MO1's are easier to get than MS1's and I don't think the MO1 is too fussy about which way it rotates to give a good spark..John

Paul.. It just dawned on me that there is a picture of Craig McWilliams 9C, on the yahoo Sunbeam forum of his mag, which is an MS1 by the looks of it. It's the picture on the home page..John

Hi Paul,

According to my Lucas data book, the 1936 'Beams used the MSL1, while the 37-38 models used the M01. Let me know the engine number, and perhaps we can make a definitive decision!

thanks to everyone with the help reguarding my magneto i now know it is a mo1 - h3 cheers..
